Village Board Meeting Procedures
The Village Board appreciates the comments and concerns from its citizens. While we want to hear from everyone, the Village Board President has set up the following procedures to help make the meeting flow efficiently.
General public comment about the meeting at hand is held at the beginning of each board meeting. During the meeting, the public is asked to remain quiet and not be disruptive. Please refrain from speaking with each other, raising of hands, or any outbursts, as this causes distractions, which makes it hard to hear and delays the proceedings.
If the public wishes to appear in front of the board on a particular topic or issue, they must submit the issue by US Mail two weeks prior to the agenda being posted (which is posted 48 hours prior to the meeting) to the Village Board President. No emails will be allowed. The reasons for the two week requirement are:
1) If the question or topic pertains to a certain committee, then the Village Board President will forward the written request to the proper committee involved. That committee will then have one week to try and resolve any issue. If the committee feels that the issue needs to be brought up to the full board for review, then that committee will be responsible for forwarding the request for placement on the agenda.
2) The other reason for the two week written notice in advance, is to give the board members ample time to try and get the proper answer needed for a reply.
Only one request on a certain topic will be allowed during the meeting. If more than one written request by US Mail is received on any given topic, the board chair will have the discretion to allow which question or topic to be asked. This is to stop any duplications as well as help run the meeting more efficiently.
Thank you for your cooperation.
