Altona Village Board Meeting
Thursday, February 6th, 2014
The board meeting was called to order at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 14th, 2014 by Mayor Derrick Appell. Those in attendance were as follows: Mayor Derrick Appell, Clerk Shelby Attaway, and Village Trustees: Ryan, Dorothy, Jerame, Terry, and Rich. Carl Swanson absent. Also in attendance from the public were: Rich Wegner, Dale Grawe, Jason Chasteen, Detective Brady, Steve Thompson, Malin Cremeens, and Carol Townsend.
Minutes were approved from the January 2014 meeting. Dorothy motioned to approve and Terry 2nd the motion. Passes 5-0-1.
Financial/Treasure’s report was given by Mark Compton. *NO TRANSFERS*
Motion to accept the bills for February 2014 was made by Terry and 2nd by Rich. Ayes: Dorothy, Ryan, Rich, Terry, and Jerame. Passes 5-0-1.
Additions to the agenda: Jerame wanted to know more about the unsafe ordinance that was proposed to the board.
Old Business
Derrick told the board members to have any changes to the 2014 Appropriation Ordinance and have them turned in to him by 2-14-14.
New Business
Altona Fire Dept donation for fireworks: Rich Cantrell asked the board for a donation of $3500 for the fireworks show. Terry motioned to donate $3500, 2nd by Rich. . Ayes: Dorothy, Ryan, Rich, Terry, and Jerame. Passes 5-0-1.
R.O.W.V.A. After prom committee donation: Lori Fink spoke to the board re: ROWVA Prom 2014. 102 kids attended last year. She asked the board for any donation if the village would like to donate. Motion by Terry to donate $200 and Rich 2nd motion. Ayes: Dorothy, Ryan, Rich, Terry, and Jerame. Passes 5-0-1.
Steve Thompson of Hometown Express C-Store and Malin Cremeens with Welch Systems proposed an expansion to the current store. Gaming can only be allowed during on-premise consumption of alcohol just in the gaming area. The board needs to approve a pour license ordinance before anything can be planned out. Motion by Rich to approve going forward with amending an ordinance for a pour license. Ryan 2nd the motion. Jerame abstained.
Altona Grade School- ROWVA District #208 offered the village the school building for $1.00.
Public comment: Rich Wegner told the board that Jason is doing a great job removing snow, along with Cantrell, Swanson Electric, and the residents of the village.
Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 by Jerame and 2nd by Ryan. Next meeting will be March 6th, 2014 at 7:00pm.
